Coffee Table Hunting

Yes, I have been hunting since my failed attempt of creating a coffee table, way back in this post.  I have been basing my shopping around this table from West Elm

But unfortunately I do not have an extra $500 in my budget (especially after this winter, oil heat, eek!) so the hunting continued. Until today! I had a gift card to Amazon and started to cruise around their coffee tables and boom – I found this beauty for $95 (free shipping too).

The only bad thing there was no reviews of the product, which can make me a little nervous – so I googled the product name and it popped up on Wayfair, for $132 with some great reviews. I added that bad boy to my cart and now I am just waiting for my boyfriend to come home and say, WTF why did you buy more furniture?

Here is a little rendering preview…
(I’ll post a better picture once it comes home!)

Go Faux Yourself

I’m baaaaack! Took a short hiatus to celebrate the birth of me 27 years ago… and in that celebratory mood. I was channeling Donna & Tom and decided to treat yoself, and purchased this bad boy:

Finally this faux cowhide lover will be mine! What really made me decide to take the plunge was the extra %15 discount Overstock was offering. My Mama taught me to ‘wait for sale’ when it comes to frivolous spending.

It should be arriving in the mail next week! I am envisioning my apartment will magically feel like one of these sexy interiors:

Art Scouting

As Emily Henderson said in her most recent blog post, “When you don’t want a lot of accessories on surfaces, but you still want a lot of personality the best way to do it is through art.” read more about her styling a new york apartment here.

I was inspired to take a virtual trek over to my favorite art shop – Society 6

DIY…Kinda Fail?

I created a coffee table with my Dad a couple weeks ago (read about that here). But once the table legs were attached, I was thinking, hmmmm these legs look kinda tall.. and guess what? They were.

Exhibit A: The image below – the top of the table was taller than the seat cushion on my couch, making putting feet on the table uncomfortable, and I live in a home where we like to be comfortable. But look how pretty it is…and I added in my new vintage mid century ottoman.

And once my boyfriend got home – those tall legs did not fly. So I had to put it somewhere else in our apartment… and then I spotted the perfect place. In the dining room.

So cute right? Even though I feel like the dining room is a little DIY over kill – My Dad and I have created every table in there, which is three. But I love styling a good table top – so I got to work!

Moving – A year Later

I officially have been living in my fabulous apartment for a year now with my two roommates, my cute BF and my cute dog, Bruin. I was SOO excited about moving, mostly because I could decorate the entire apartment anyway I wanted – with the slight compromise of the occasional Bruins/Red Sox/Patriots banners that are hanging around my home.

This is what our living room looked like our first night:

It looks so naked. Especially not having any curtains. We are on the first floor, so its important that we hung curtains up right away!

And here’s what it looks like now:

fullWhat I love most about this room, is how open it feels, I am standing the opening that leads to the dinning room, (which I am not showing right now, because it has my messy painting/studio stuff all over it)! And as you can see, a lot of natural light. Bruin likes to creep out the windows while we’re at work so that is another plus.

image 2 photo-1This black ikat patterned chair is my favorite piece in my entire apartment, its so comfortable and it was my Auntie Elaine’s, who obviously had the best taste. Every time I see it, I think of her sitting there with her, ‘hot cup of coffee.’

I’ll give you a little peek at my dining room – this is an old gram so some things are different. But the big table (table with the bowl of antlers), I built with my Dad last memorial day and I love it! It’s perfect for all my art projects. I also made all the curtains and the smaller side table, what can I say, I am a sucker for DIY.

There are still a few things I want to change up – maybe new curtains, different pillows, new rug? That is the fun of a home – they are always evolving! And here are some pictures of my roomie making herself a home.

Little House…In the Office

My Dad’s birthday was earlier this month and I decided that he needed some brick-a-brack for his office… I was looking for a little artisanal piece, and I found this online – it was perfect!

The best part was that a brother and sister design/create these beautiful little houses, 2of2 – Check out the rest of their items! This little bushel of trees needs to come live on my mantel…
